QUESTIONS TO ASK AN AGENT

                                     



At some point in your career as an actor,  you are going to want/need an agent or you may find that you want to change agents.  

Here are some questions to ask:

1.  What is your relationship like with casting directors in town?  

2.  What casting directors can you get on the phone or reply to your email?

3.  On certain auditions, do you call the casting director for feedback or follow up?  What is your procedure for this?  How often do you do this?

4.  How long have you been in the business?

5.  How many people do you represent?    

6.  How many of your clients are like or similar to my type & age?

7.  What is your commission? 

8.  Do you have a "general services" agreement or  agent/client contract.   How long would it require  us work together?   What are the procedures to renew or cancel it?

9.  Do they/will they provide an accounting of payments at the end of the year?

10. Are they open to yearly goal setting/year in review meetings?

11. Will they provide a list of  casting submissions  and dates submitted if requested?

12.  Are they registered with SAG-AFTRA or AEA?

13.  What type of coverage does the agency offer?  Commercial, theatrical, print, voiceover, literary?

14.  What is your standard timeframe of paying a client after they have completed a job?

15.  What do you like about being an agent?

16.   What is your biggest challenge?

17.   What is do you like in a client?  What do you expect from them?

18.   Do you have any pet peeves?

19.  What are your favorite ways/strategies to get your clients seen?

20.  Do you have any charges other than the standard commission that I should know about?

21.  Do you want/like to review new headshots or demo reels?
